Minnesota River

Built in 1954 by Pullman-Standard for service on the Pioneer Limited and Olympian Hiawatha. Among the last passenger cars purchased by the Milwaukee Road, it was never used in Amtrak service. It was sold to its first private owner in 1978 and was acquired by the Friends of the 261 in 2001.
This Classic Pullman is equipped with 5 roomettes, 4 double bedrooms, and 8 duplex roomettes. This car is roomy and well preserved with all the original fixtures, including open cadged fans. You may wonder why 5 roomettes, well, in original service there never was a shower. In 2001, the Friends of the 261 decided to turn room 5 in to a full-size bathroom with standing shower. Along with the bathroom, a small kitchenette was added for basic meal needs.
